Im a PADI Divemaster............... Yeehaa

On Wednesday we headed off to El Puertito with 3 customers, Jesper, Paul and David.

The turtles were really friendly and swimming alongside us – I love the turtles!

Eric lead the second dive as we went to the left of the bay and we saw a plainhead file fish for the first time which was pretty cool. Later on I helped time the newer interns timed swims.

On Thursday we all had our medical so we are all fit for diving. Afterwards Eric and I went for a cooked breakfast at the Aberdeen and then went off killing black long spinned sea urchins in true Project AWARE fashion with our snorkel and dive knives although turns out im not very good at holding my breath so only killed a few from the shore.
I had two days off in a row this week which was a first and unheard of!
On Saturday Melissa, Will, Cassandra, Malene and I went off to Abades with Jim who was doing his DSD. He seemed to really love his first diving experience and keen to do more which is really great to see. Malene, Cassandra and I were jotting down all the aquatic life we could identify and we managed to make a pretty big list. I saw a blacktail comber which is pretty cool.

On Sunday all us interns, Pete, will and Alice went to El Delfin on the boat, I had never been to that dive site before, it’s a really nice dive site and I logged my 60th dive so I am now officially a PADI Divemaster! 
We saw a couple of trigger fish, a sleepy round sting ray, a fangtooth moray eel and quite a few glasseyes. The visibility was really good. Getting back on the boat I felt pretty seasick, we then went along to a pipeline where we saw several stingrays underneath the pipeline and a little school of red mullets amongst several others!

There were some impressive anemones on those dives as well. When I was doing the brief for the last dive I was chucked in the ocean, mid-sentence whilst being filmed which was pretty mean but entertaining all the same.

In the afternoon Eric and I finished off our PADI Divemaster paperwork and then we were scored on our professional attributes before I went off to the pool to help the newer interns with their pool skills.

Urchin kill's, DSD's and I found out im a Master craftsman!

Monday I ate food and then came into work at 7 AM. We set up kit and went to Yellow Mountain and I may have been on boat cover.
Either way the boat is still safe and Hannah still can’t do boat cover very well :)

Tuesday was a complete turn around, it was probably comparable to  what everyone thought of E=MC^2 after Einstein thought of it. I don’t want to toot my own horn but my performance was easily at the top, and even though some interns(I don’t want to name names…Hannah) might think that this is all just a game, it definitely is not.

I actually did boat cover on Tuesday though, it’s all coming back to me. I was fantastic though,its really not a surprise though.
Wednesday I got to go to El Puertito with Melissa and Will and 3 customers doing DSD's. We saw the baby turtle and that also put me at 59 dives, which meant that I was going to beat Hannah to becoming a Divemaster.

Thursday I had the day off and really didn't do all that much except lay on the couch and sleep, then that night I watched a movie called Triangle which was about the creepiest movie I have ever seen and it made it much more difficult to sleep because my mind wouldn't shut off.
Then Friday we went to El Puertito again for my 60th dive. I was immensely tired that day but I did become a PADI Divemaster and I beat Hannah to it by at least 3 days. So it was completely worth it.
We went to El Delphin Saturday and Sunday which was an awesome dive site, and starfish bay was full of sea urchins.

So Saturday Theiss and I got slightly carried away while carrying out a sea urchin genocide. They were taken completely by surprise, the ambush was perfect. We came at them from above with knives in our hands and no remorse in our hearts. We then got told to stop and the cry of joy from the remaining sea urchins was deafening.  I’ve been having hearing issues ever since.

Sunday I also got to start on crafting a new drying rack for the BCD’s and wetsuits. It will easily be the best rack up there. Able to hold an elephant I would wager, probably capable of withstanding hurricane force winds and so stable that it could withstand an earthquake of 9.0 or greater on the Richter scale. I can’t speak highly enough of my craftsmanship.

That was the cherry on the top of my week. Done.

Divemaster Exams, stamina tests and urchin killing !

On Monday we headed off to El Puertito where the turtles are however sadly we didn’t see them and there was a lot of rubbish about.

It was Patrick’s last dives so it was a shame the turtles didn’t come and say goodbye!
I lead one of the dives which was a new experience but it went pretty smoothly.

In the afternoon we worked on how to use RDP tables and then did our Divemaster exams which Eric and I both past! Yay, one step closer to being a dive master!

On Tuesday we had a couple doing their Discover Scuba Diving, after helping out in their pool session we went off on the boat to Yellow Mountain.
This wasn’t a very good day for me as I did a poor job of helping the customers into the water! However it was Melissa’s birthday so we came back and ate cake and later on we went out for a meal and then onto Las Americas which was a lot of fun!

The shop was shut on Wednesday thankfully and we went out for lunch as Patrick was leaving that day, a sad day! Patrick has been a legend!

On Thursday we went back to El Puertito and had a lot more success, the turtles were back! Mihra was doing her Discover Scuba Diving and the turtles came to join us.
For the second dive Alice and I went off for a recreational dive and saw the baby turtle and perfected our turtle impression.

I did my 800m timed swim again and managed to get 3 seconds faster than the first time I did it but I want to get under 9 minutes!
We then practised kit set up.

On Friday we practised tying the knots we need to know and went to Poco Naufragio for a deep dive. I really like Poco Naufragio, there is lots to see and we saw a couple of moray eels.
At 28 metres we did some sums to see how much slower we were than at the surface again due to gas narcosis.
We also saw the tomato change colour from red to brown as we went deeper and attempted to pass an egg around to see how hard it was until Eric went and smashed it –classic!

We then went onto Yellow Mountain where we did a search and recovery dive to find ducky which was successful and then practised using a lift bag and tying the knots we know underwater.
Eric and I then went off for a recreational dive where we went around crocodile rock and killed a load of black long-spined sea urchins that Eric said he could happily do everyday.
I really enjoyed the diving that day, a proper ‘I love diving’day!

In the afternoon we had a final practise of our skills before our exam the next day.

On Saturday our scuba skills were assessed, it didn’t go too smoothly and when asked how much air we had left which we have been asked hundreds of times before we just couldn’t work out which skill we should be demonstrating for that symbol.

I have several to redo and Eric is smug as he has less to redo than me!
We then went through a Divemaster presentation on what we can do once we are a Divemaster.

Eric and I got the afternoon off so went snorkelling down by the shore.

Its got really hot the last few days, summer is a coming!

Diving and nights out in Las Americas!

Let’s see, this week Gerardo and Mel (Melissa, but there already is one of those so…) showed up and have been getting used to the way things work.

We did a couple dives at Yellow Mountain early this week where Gerardo and Mel went to find Ducky and Hannah and I went to learn how to use a lift bag.

We also went on our first dive where it was only me and Hannah and we ended up spending half the dive killing sea urchins and to be honest it was super!

It was also our Divemaster exams this week, and Alice decided to torment me by not telling me my score until Hannah was done and then she held off until everyone was listening.
I was more nervous after the test than I was before it, in the end though I passed so it’s all good.

We also did our final skills session in the pool with Pete and Alice. There were some good things and some bad things about our pool session, first Pete didn’t get out of the pool in disgust which was a huge plus. He did make fun of us quite a bit for not responding correctly to the signal for "how much air have you got"!  However I feel that it was slightly unwarranted as nobody else had ever asked us, but then Pete is the loving caring one!

But in the end I only have to redo 3 skills whereas Hannah has to redo 6, I’m obviously #1.

Melissa’s birthday also happened this week and we went out for the night and had quite the time, or at least I had quite the time, but I am not willing to discuss it!

I also had dinner with Will, Hannah, and Melissa this week and I made the pasta and it was delicious.

My role was probably one of the most important of the meal and was constantly downplayed, I couldn't believe how ungrateful everyone was as I slaved away in the kitchen for at least 10-20 minutes. It was probably one of the most demoralizing moments of my life.
Melissa literally laid on the couch and said things like, “All you’re doing is boiling it in water,” and “you didn't make the pasta.” It was wonderful, but I must say I did enjoy the food in the end, I don’t know if it was because I put so much work and effort into it or if it was just delicious.

We done a bunch of dives at other places too this week with some great guys.

Today though got to work on skills with Mel and Gerardo which was fun and got through my kit set up with them, they were pretty decent for first runs.

Malene and Theiss also started their internship and today was my first full day working with them and I think they will do well.

It’s weird having so many interns, I was used to rushing around and doing a lot of work every day but the amount I have to do myself now is quite a bit less it seems.

Either that or I am getting really lazy. Whatever it’s all working out and we are having a good time.

Sea Horse, Dolphins & Night Dives............... Just AWESOME :)

This week started off with me going to Poco Naufragio with Pete, James, and Birgit.
The dive started off in a special way because we saw dolphins right as we left the marina which I guess they hadn’t seen in at least 8 weeks, so that was cool. I have never seen dolphins out in the wild so it was awesome to see them jumping out of the water and doing all sorts of dolphin things right in front of me.

That was also my first dive at Poco Naufragio so going through the canyon down there and seeing an eel was something new for me.
We also visited Pequeno Valle on that dive which was also new for me. The rest of the day was basically a normal day.
The week picked up Sunday though with Hannah and I going on separate dives, I think Hannah ended up in the pool while I ended up going to Las Eras which I enjoyed quite a bit, Melissa led that dive and Steven, James, Birgit, and Mick came with us. I saw a couple new fish, such as the red lipped blenny and really started to enjoy all the diving. It was very laid back and I enjoy talking to all the customers because they’ve all been all over the place.
In the US people go to Florida when they are on vacation but over here they travel to different countries because it’s a lot easier.
Las Eras was probably one of my favorite dives because we went along a pipeline the second time and after Melissa reminded me to pull out my flashlight I could look in literally every crack in the cement around the pipe and see different fish hiding in the dark. It was really cool, we also saw this little octopus in a hole just looking out at us and that was pretty funny.
The next day we had a lot of customers and everyone headed over to Abades for their dives.
Originally I was going with Pete, Patrick and the Discover Scuba Divers but then for some reason I had no weight belt and got switched into Melissa’s group with Mick, James, and Birgit which was fine with me.
Basically I ended up shoving 8 kg worth of spare weights into my pockets and running across the beach to catch up. It all worked out and we had 2 good dives.
On the second dive we saw a seahorse which Melissa couldn’t stop talking about. So it was a fun dive for all of us.
I’ve been getting lucky because I’ve only been here 3 weeks and I’ve seen dolphins and a seahorse.

Then on Friday I went to Pequeno Valle again with Pete, Sean, Kali, Yaro, and Hannah.
This was the dive when Hannah said she was cold and Pete being the nice, caring, and gentle individual that he always is, gave Hannah his extra hood because she was cold.
I couldn’t believe it, it was the biggest display of self sacrifice I think I have ever seen. Pete is so selfless and caring. I honestly cant remember what we did in the day in between, we do so much it all kind of blurs together.

On Tuesday we went to the hotel though and we forgot the toolbox and forgot to take the inserts out of the tanks so I got to run from the hotel to the shop and back which was at least a mile and a half. That was in the middle of the day and in flip flops so it was super fun.

Basically the rest of the week was good, we did a couple of dives with Sean, Kali, and Yaro.
The first morning  was their first experience with a surface marker buoy and the second morning with them Hannah had the day off and we went to Tabaiba.

It was an experience with Kali, Sean, and Yaro and I also managed to forget Alice’s candy bar on more than one trip…Oh man.
The next day I got up at 4:45 to get to work at 5:15 for the night dive with Alice, Hannah, Sean, and Yaro.
I thought it was awesome. Even though it seems a bit more dangerous and scary especially when you first get in it was one of the coolest experiences of my life, if you wave your hand around in the water it lights up with luminescence or whatever they called it.

It made me giggle like a little school girl, then descending down the line was insane because its just black all around you until you turn your light on.
The flashlight sort of allows you to focus on certain points so I ended up seeing a ton of scorpion fish and the biggest arrow crab I’ve seen. It was pretty tight.

Birthday's , Las Americas, and really cheap booze !

On the Monday, I had my induction day of my internship, where my flatmate Gerado and I were shown around the dive centre and were shown how things work around here by Will, our instructor.

All of the information seemed really overwhelming, like where kit lives, how to prepare it for diving and which key opens which door. We went for a pool session to do a skills set, which could have been better especially if I’d remembered to bring the Scuba Review slates!
I’ve been given a new name as well – Cassandra, which I quite like. On Tuesday, after putting together kit which confused me, we went to the marina. After I was doing a lot faffery with my kit and my suit we got in the boat and went diving. My knife came out of its sheath on the backward roll entry which meant I couldn’t kill any of the black sea urchins, but Pete found it so I could stab some on the second dive.

It was Melissa’s birthday that day, so Alice made a cake which I really liked. That evening, we went out for a meal and then into Las Americas to celebrate! I couldn’t believe how cheap the alcohol was there, which was definitely a bonus. After the night out we all had the day off on Wednesday so I didn’t do much apart from do a bit of recovering from the night before.

On Thursday, it was back to diving, and I saw a turtle which was one of the best things I think I’ve seen underwater! We did two dives, the first was the Fish ID dive where I saw a load of marine life, like White Bream, Lizard Fish, Blue-Fin Damselfish and the turtle!
Then we did a navigation dive when I had to make a circle and a triangle, and I got really confused with the maths :)

On Friday, we went out on the boat and I didn’t take my seasickness tablet in enough time so I felt grim on the boat. We did a deep dive at Poco Naufragio to 28 metres.  Before the dive we had to do some problems on our slates, and then do them again at depth. I couldn’t write my surname backwards, but in my defence it is stupidly long. The next two dives were search and recovery which we messed up!
Saturday, we went for a shore dive at Abades, and there was a lot of life there too including a lot of invertebrates which I had to Identify as part of my underwater naturalist dive.
Sunday, we went out on the boat again, this time I remembered to take the seasickness tablet as soon as I woke up so I didn’t feel as sick.
We did two dives at Mool Pools and then Los Abrigos and I found it quite hard to dive in the surge, and avoid being pushed into a rock by the current!

I’ve enjoyed my first week here, but it’s been a lot of hard work and there are still a lot of things I need to get used to and I need to learn to do them correctly!

My Internship and new Parrot !

So I started off my internship in Tenerife with a taxi ride to a random roundabout where the driver told me to get out and walk the rest of the way!
Luckily Melissa was kind enough to come retrieve me.

First day on the job I met Alice, Pete, and Hannah right away and we were put to work immediately. Alice showed us how to set up all the kits and perform all the jobs that are done on a daily basis. There was a lot to take in but its slowly sinking in.
The little things get you though, like putting the dust caps back on right after you take the regulators off, it’s easy to do but it’s also easy to forget. I think that first day we also got into the little pool which is basically filled completely with ice and did a skills session which Hannah and I did fabulously on!

Tuesday Stiven slept in but Patrick helped out with kit set up and we got to go to Abades for a navigation dive and a fish I.D. dive. The navigation dive went well, we managed to navigate in a straight line down and back, a square, and a triangle underwater.

The fish I.D. dive was more fun than the navigation dive because we actually saw fish, though my drawings of them were atrocious I did manage to figure out which fish I had drawn later on. After the dives we went to the marina and learned how to wash all the kits. Then we headed back to base and had lunch. That afternoon we went to the hotel pool for the try dive which is fun because we get to meet a lot of different people.

Wednesday we went to Tabaiba where it was misting slightly and the water was pretty cold, but the deep dive and the wreck dive were awesome. First thing you see is a bunch of garden eels which are much cooler in real life than in pictures. The wreck dive was my favorite though because I was just kind of swimming along and I looked up and there was a ship right in front of me. It sits on a bit of a decline so its listing to one side and when you swim over the side onto the deck it can be a little disorientating, but it was very cool.

Stiven made it to these two dives and in between them we got the privilege of walking back and forth from the Jumpy multiple times for a candy bar, inserts, allen keys, and new tanks. All of which really should’ve only taken one trip! I guess w will learn!
Thursday was our first boat dive I thought it was fun and Yellow Mountain was one of the best so far, there were tons of fish to see. Within the first few minutes of being at the bottom we got to watch Alice kill a couple of sea urchins and then we got to watch Hannah ineffectively poke at one with her knife. I didn’t get to try because I didn’t have a knife.
The second dive was our first mapping dive Hannah took spot depths while I took bearing measurements and we went through the swim through which was neat. We also saw a scorpion fish.

The rest of the week we worked on skills and were in the pool.
This week was challenging but enjoyable.

Sting Rays everywhere :)

This week Gary Stiven and I have all made lots of progress on our PADI Divemaster course. We had a pool skills session with Pete who marked us. This showed us we still have some way to go in some skills but in others we managed to score some top marks, which was encouraging.  We also did the 800-metre snorkel and 100 metre diver tow. We did these tests in the Marina and in the afternoon I watched Stiven doing his PADI Rescue confined water stage. It was interesting to see someone else being instructed and was a useful refresher for Gary and I. It was a long day but it was worth it.

This week I have also done 2 dives where I was trained in the Surface Marker Buoy which I enjoyed doing.

We dived at the sub site with customers Fergus, Aidan and Dan. We were really lucky to see 4 large Rays sleeping on the floor of a small ravine. Later in the dive we saw another 2 Rays, which was fantastic .The second of those looked very large. The sleeping rays we were able to get really close to.  They eventually moved and were so powerful and graceful to watch. It was definitely a high for me.

We also dived at the Moon Pools where we saw lots of fish. It was a brilliant day and the light in the pools was amazing. You approach these pools through a series of swim throughs. I did my Fish identification dive at the site and recorded 36 different species. There were still others that I did not get a chance to record but it shows how much life there is in these waters.

At Yellow Mountain we dived with Dan, Steve, Aidan and Fergus .We saw a small Common ray which had teamed up with a small Sting ray. They were happily following one another around and did not seem at all bothered by our presence. They seemed to be playing a game of tag, which was funny to watch.

The weather this week has been 25 degrees plus. The sea temperature is still 21 degrees and the sea has been the calmest that I have seen it since I have been here.

On Saturday Gary, Stiven Melissa and I were all off for the day. Gary drove us round the north of the Island and we ended up at Teide just before sunset. The light really seemed to bring the colour out of the rocks and we all had a great day. It was nice to see parts of the Island that I have not been to before.

Sharks and Turtles :)

This has been a really interesting week with lots of customers who have really added to the
enjoyment of it. In particular Gary And Will, Jim Alison Thomas and. William, Paul and Ella and Kevin.

On Monday we were joined by Stiven a new intern from Spain. He has settled in really well and become part of the team already. He is getting on really well with Gary who is doing a lot of translating
for him.

This week Gary and I passed our PADI Advanced course and Stiven passed his PADI Open Water dives 1-4 so we are all making progress. Stiven has done particularly well his buoyancy and really loves seeing all the various fish types.and varied dive sites.

This week I have completed 15 dives, which has been great experience. At Abades with Melissa we had some great dives with brilliant visibility and a warm sea. We saw Octopus, Lizard fish, Parrot fish, Ornate Wrasse and lots of Atlantic Damsel fish.

At Yellow Mountain with Alice we were really lucky to see an Angel shark that was about 1.3 metres in length. It was so calm and graceful in its movements. It did not seem to be bothered about us at all. It was one of the high lights of the week for me.

My most enjoyable dives were with Melissa at El Puertito where we had 4 dives over 2 days with different customers.
The reason for this was the turtles that are in the small bay. In 2008 I was lucky to do a “ Try Dive” in the Cayman Islands where there were some really large turtles in the harbour. I fell in love with the graceful and calm way, in which they moved.
It made me want to become a diver. At El Puertito we saw 3 turtles on our first dive.

One was a baby with the other 2 being adult size. Over the next 3 dives we saw turtles on each dive. On our last dive we were just about to ascend when one came over and checked us out. It was as if it had come to say good bye to us as it gently circled us and brushed against us. I found it a very moving experience. William who was aged 12 was my buddy and really enjoyed the turtles as well. I cannot wait to return to El Puertito again.

Y la aventura comienza

Buenas, soy de Tenerife y tras un montón de tiempo disfrutando de hacer snorkel, al fin, despué sde varios años intentando empezar a bucear, lo he conseguido!! Empecé mi Open Water Diver a principios de enero, pero me ha llevado casi 2 meses poder terminarlo con otra gente, al fin conseguí terminar este sábado, así que Heeeeeeyy, al fin soy un OWD!!!

Así que finalmente he podido empezar mis practices el lunes por la mañana con Dive & Sea Tenerife. La isla estaba en alerta naranja por cuestiones meteorológicas lo cual significó que me pude tomar el día libre, de manera que me pude tomar el día libre porque también soy profesor a tiempo parcial en el norte de la isla.

Cuando llegué a la tienda y me encontré con Pete, Melissa y Alice (anteriormente llamada Kim) y también otra interna de francia, Emelyne que poco después fue renombrada como Brian (el caracol del Tiovivo Mágico(Magic roundabout)) y también recibí un Nuevo combre como Gary (este es el caracol de Bob Esponja!!), aparentemente esta tradición de poner apodos, lleva un cierto tiempo y he de decir que Gary me parece mucho major que otros nombres que he oido hablar de la realización y dejarse ver.

En nuestro primer día nos dieron la información sobre las practicas y como realizar las actividades diarias.. Lo primero que hicimos por la mañana una sesión de piscina para practicar nuestras habilidades básicas de buceo con Alice. Mucho que mejorar, pero bueno, los comienzos a veces pueden ser algo caóticos ;)

Desafortunadamente la alerta naranja terminó, así que el martes por la mañana tocó dar clase, pero por la tarde me dirigí al Sur, a Dive and See Tenerife para ir a comprar los trajes de neopreno para Brian y yo, así como algunas otras cosas que necesitamos para las prácticas. Es como el cielo para los buceadores allí, me podría haber gastado una fortuna si la tuviera, haha.

Aparentemente hay otra tradición al llevar a los internos a ProSub que tiene que ver con probar sus trajes … Melissa y su amiga Ann se divirtieron mucho, mientras Brian y yo nos tostábamos probando los neoprenos!!! Afortunadamente después del segundo traje encontré el mio, Bufff!!!!

El miércoles comenzó la aventura realmente ya que fuimos a bucear. Brian y yo comenzamos nuestro curso PADI Avanzado ese día realizamos nuestros buceos profundo e inmersión desde barco. Ya en camino de completar el curso avanzado!!! Se agradece esto no llevará 2 meses como mi OW.

Me queda muchiiiisimo que aprender en nuestras inmersiones, así como también aprender como se realiza todo en Dive and Sea Tenerife. Parte del aprendizaje parece que tiene que ver con equivocarse e ir mejorando, ¡así que más vale ir mejorando rápido!

Realizamos 3 magnificas inmersiones, mi primera en Poco Naufragio con Pete, Emeline y Ann, realizando mi inmersión de aventura profunda y en la inmersión pudimos ver incluso un chucho, este sitio de inmersiones es bastante especial, me encantaría volver y afortunadamente pude volver posteriormente esa semana con Dan que estaba realizando su Curso Avanzado. Para nuestra segunda y tercera inmersión fuimos a Montaña Amarilla, a la Roca Alienígena, allí hay varios sitios de inmersión, pero en esta ocasión realizamos dos inmersiones profundas en la Roca Alienígena, allí hubo mucho en que pensar y que ver, de manera que me hubiera perdido si me hubieran pedido hacer navegación en este sitio!!

Otro comienzo muy temprano y fuimos para 2 inmersiones desde barco con los clientes Ann y Dan y fueron unas buenas inmersiones. Estuvo bien trabajar con mi buyoancy realizando mi tercer curso avanzado, …., dos más y seré un buceador Avanzado!!! La segunda inmersión fue en Swim Through o nada a través, otro sitio en la bahía precioso y que también pude disfrutar.

El viernes tocó inmersión desde la playa de El Puertito, por culpa de la tormenta que tuvimos al principio de la semana, las condiciones no eran ideales porque la tormenta se había llevado la arena de la playa y habían olas algo fuertes a la entrada y a la salida lo cual dificultó especialmente la inmersión a Dan, pero entramos y a excepción de la visibilidad, fue una buena inmersión en la que vi por primera vez a la tortuga amorosa que parecía como si nos abrazara .

Finalmente el sábado un día agradable y soleado con el mar calmado, así que estaba emocionado por poder realizar más inmersiones. Realizamos 2 inmersiones desde el barco con Dan realizando sus inmersiones profunda y desde barco para su curso avanzado, lo cual nos dio la posibilidad de observar como se imparte el curso.

On the first dive to Poco Naufragio,  we met a ray who was going around us like a dog and then three morays, two black and One fangtooth. Amazing.  Our Second dive after dropping Melissa back at the Marina was to Yellow Mountain, this is such an amazing site and very popular with all our divers.  On this dive we were able to see

El domingo nos preparamos para hacer inmersiones desde la playa de Abades, donde realizamos 2 inmersiones con Jake (realizando su Discover Scuba Diving), Dan (realizando su curso Avanzado), Jake (instructor, Melissa, Alice y yo, disfruté de ambas inmersiones, en el primero acompañando a Dan y ayudandole y viendo como se gestiona y sucede eso de la experiencia de Discover Scuba Diving y para la segunda inmersión acompañé a Jan y pude comprobar la gran diferencia que da la experiencia en este mundo submarino.

La semana fue realmente larga, creo que nunca me había sentido tan cansado física y mentalmente en toda mi vida y estoy seguro que después de las prácticas estaré mucho más fuerte y también de que aprenderé bastantes cosas. La verdad es que estoy deseando que llegue la próxima semana con mucho más aprendizaje y con un poco de suerte más inmersiones .

Second week of my Internship........ Must get an alarm clock!

Monday…. A new week of hard work is waiting for me!

Basically 7 o’clock:

 Grab the keys and clipboard which indicates all the informations that I need to prepare the diver’s kits.

 Prepare all the kits, bring back it to the shop for Alice to check.

 Take all the tanks (now is not so hard that he was as the first time…)

 Take them to the super jumpy, go back the oxygen kit and the tools box to Super Jumpy again…

7H30 must be done…! No stress you can do it…

Hard work done… now the fun begins…

This week we went to swim through; STUNNING place ahahah!!! (Melissa teach me this word to replace the famous SUPER that I use all the single time!!!)

The diving here in Tenerife is STUNNING, so much to see and so many fish to look at.

Friday I observed Alice for the scuba tuned up of Matija he was pretty good! Well done!

Again i was late, i find it hard to be on time everyday!

The day after, we went to the swimming pool with Alice, Emmet and Nialls. They did the discover scuba diving and they do it pretty good! They seem to be very impatient to go to real diving!

The  next day Gary and me did the ID Fish adventure dive in Abades, I have seen new fishes i am not seeing before and many types of plants, just so exciting. Always we saw new marine life!
Abades  is a shore dive and i have to be carrying all my kit to the entry point it is not far but perhaps i am not as fit as everyone else!

This dive site is very shallow, 7m bottom. We go there for all types of diver, discover scuba divers and new open water divers and everyone.

I should be practising my swimming in the pool more, but am so tired at end of day that i haven't  The others have more energy than me!

My ear has an ache after the last diving and i will go to Doctor soon, as they keep telling me too!

I have also been surfing here in Tenerife and have made many new friends, the island is very beautiful and has so much to offer. So far the internship is teaching me lots and i fun having.

Wreck Diving and Sting Rays in Tenerife

Back with my blog again.

Today I have a day off. I think it is better this way because I've got somewhat of a hangover from last night. Yesterday we all went out for dinner and a musical. We had a really good time with everybody from the shop and a couple of Pete and Melissa’s friends. so today I am just relaxing trying to get my head straight for tomorrow’s dives.

This has been a truly amazing week. This week I finally became a fully certified PADI Divemaster, Wohoo! It feels great to wear my Divemaster t-shirt down in the shop.

The dives this week has been fantastic. We've been to completely new places for me and I finally went diving at Tabaiba after being there twice without diving.

The first dive I had this week was with Alice, Lydia, Mahmoud and Dennis, just outside the marina. We've only been there once before during last week, so we really enjoyed seeing some new stuff.

The next dive was the famous Tabaiba.
I've been really excited to go diving here, because it is a really nice place, so I could only imagine that it must be nice under water as well. Besides that, there is of course the wreck.

Having never seen a wreck before I was looking forward to see it. We went there so that Lydia could do her wreck speciality and the dive went so well. I loved the site so much.
It is the deepest dive I have had, I think about 31 meters, and the wreck was so cool.
Besides it is always going to be a great day when you can stand on a beach where you are going diving and just of the coast you see Dolphins jumping out of the water. truly a nice view.

Next day we had a new dive site for me as well.
We were going to El Delphin, which is actually in the middle of nowhere between the marina and Yellow Mountain.
At first we went down at a really deep place. I think there might have been about 40 meters of water, but we just had a fairly long swim in midwater, trying to spot some Angel sharks.

I saw a huge Ray lying on the bottom. It must have been 3 meters across the wings. When we got to the dive site it was really good.
Out there all the regular fish are bigger and we get to see some new species that I haven't seen before. For example a saw two very big Canarian Lobsters and loads of other cool stuff.

This week I also went to Las Eras. 
I like the rock formations and of course the pipeline where there is always a huge diversity in life and it is kinda funny to just drift along the pipeline looking into every crack wondering what you're going to see.
We found some Morays, which is always nice to see, but unfortunately no Rays or Octopus.

That's it for this week. Now I'm going to return to my duties of sunbathing and drinking coke.
